NDIS Cleaning in Duncraig

A participant in Duncraig should not have to spend the whole cleaning visit standing beside the cleaner and giving directions. If supervision uses more energy than the service saves, the scope has not been written well enough.

Agree the job before the cloth comes out

The walkthrough records rooms, tasks, priorities, products, access and exclusions. Once that is written, the cleaner can work without asking the participant to repeat every instruction.

Questions are still welcome, but they should be about a real uncertainty rather than a substitute for preparation.

Choose check-in points

Some participants prefer a quick check after the bathroom and another before floors. Others want one handover at the end. The service notes can record those points so the cleaner does not interrupt rest after every task.

Resting is not absence of consent

A participant may rest in another room while agreed work continues. The cleaner knocks or uses the requested communication method before entering that room and never assumes a resting person has agreed to extra work.

If an unexpected decision is needed and the participant does not want to be disturbed, the task is left for the handover.

Leaving the home can also be agreed

Some participants prefer to go out during the clean. Access, alarms, pets, keys and the final lock-up are documented before that arrangement begins. A cleaner does not invent a key location or share an access code with another person.

The end-of-visit message states what was completed and any issue that needs attention.

A written scope supports a substitute cleaner

When the usual cleaner is unavailable, the participant should not have to rebuild the whole job from memory. The substitute receives the current rooms, tasks, access instructions and no-touch list, and the participant is told before the visit.

What a regular clean usually covers

Choosing the visit frequency

Weekly cleaning can help where essential rooms become difficult within a few days. Fortnightly is a common regular arrangement. Monthly cleaning works where everyday tasks are covered and the participant needs help with bathrooms, floors or heavier domestic work.

The amount of participant supervision should not increase merely because the visits are more frequent.

One-off, deep and vacate cleaning

A deep clean may add tracks, skirtings, the oven interior, rangehood filters or inside cupboards by agreement. One-off cleaning covers a defined domestic need, while vacate cleaning is an end-of-tenancy service. Larger scopes need more detail before the visit so decisions are not pushed onto the participant all day.

One-off, deep and vacate cleaning are not automatically funded by the NDIS. The participant’s disability-related needs and approved supports determine whether the domestic work can be claimed.

Laundry and linen

Washing, drying, folding, putting away and changing the bed can be included. The method, drying instructions and storage places are written down so the participant does not need to supervise each garment.

How NDIS funding for cleaning works

Domestic cleaning may be funded when disability affects the participant’s ability to maintain the home and assistance with household tasks is included in the approved plan. A written scope supports accurate invoicing but does not itself create funding.

Smurfettes Cleaning Service is a Registered NDIS Provider, registration number 4053371406. A plan manager, support coordinator or NDIA contact confirms whether the support fits the plan. We describe the work, provide the quote and record what was delivered.

In a shared household, participant funding relates to the participant’s disability-related needs. The scope separates participant areas, shared areas and ordinary work belonging to other residents.

Self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed

Self-managed participants arrange the service directly and receive the invoice. Plan-managed participants provide the manager’s billing details. NDIA-managed participants use a registered provider, and Smurfettes is registered.

Common questions

Do I need to supervise the whole clean?

No. A clear written scope lets the cleaner work independently with agreed check-ins.

Can I rest in another room?

Yes. We record whether and how the cleaner may enter that room.

Can I leave during the visit?

Yes, when access, lock-up, alarms, pets and communication have been agreed.

What happens if the cleaner has a question?

They use the agreed check-in method. A non-urgent uncertain task can be left for the handover.
