I served for nineteen years and came home with injuries that most people cannot see. The DVA referral process for domestic support is not exactly straightforward and I had knocked back two previous providers before my case manager suggested Smurfettes. I went in with low expectations, which says more about my prior experiences than anything else.

The intake process was handled properly. Someone called me back the same day, confirmed what my DVA entitlements covered, and did not make me repeat myself or sit on hold while they figured it out. That sounds like a basic standard but in my experience it is not. They understood the funding arrangement from the first conversation and built the service agreement around it cleanly.

The cleaner who comes to my place is thorough in a way I respect. I have a small two bedroom unit and he works through it methodically, top to bottom, without cutting corners on the bathroom or the kitchen. I travel every few weeks for medical appointments interstate and on the visits just before I leave he picks up that I need things particularly sorted, without me having to ask. I have no idea how he clocks it but he does.

For other veterans navigating DVA support, I would say this plainly: Smurfettes know how the system works, they show up when they say they will, and they treat you like an adult. That combination is rarer than it should be. I have been with them eight months and I have not had a single reason to consider changing.

i dont really write reviews but thought i should for this. im on ndis and some weeks i just cant keep up with everything at home, it builds up quick

smurfettes have been easy to deal with from the start. no pressure or anything awkward, they just come in get it done and go. when they leave the place actually feels better not just “clean”

washing gets done, bed gets changed, kitchen sorted so i can actually use it again. i dont have to go back and fix anything after which used to happen alot before

just makes things easier for me overall and takes that stress off a bit

Natalie has been my cleaner through Smurfettes Cleaning Company for over a year. She provides a service that’s next level compared to other cleaners I’ve had and I’m particularly impressed with her dependability, flexibility and ability to place herself in the position of the client.

Living with a disability, you’re often already working against the ‘norm’ so to speak, so its really helpful she’s able to see things from my perspective and implement her practices to cater for my needs, without me having to explain what, how, why etc… nothing is too much trouble, she’s always on time, works hard but always stops to say hello, check in and ask how we are going.
