For a shared kitchen, bathroom or living area, identify who uses the space and which portion of the work relates to the participant’s disability-related need. Record any ordinary co-resident share separately. For tenancy, bond, vacate or general property costs, use a separate private-payment line. Direct tenancy-compliance costs—including bond and tenancy-required exit cleaning—stay outside an NDIS quote. Routine landlord or homeowner repair and maintenance also remain private; disability-specific modifications, assistive-technology work, or plan-included household or yard supports need their own current NDIS decision.

Keep access facts separate from the support reason

Parking, stairs, pets, entry instructions, preferred communication and safe-product restrictions may affect how a visit is quoted. They do not prove why a task is an NDIS support. Store them as access facts and disclose only what is needed for the next decision.

Choose the right contact for each question

The participant or nominee controls the requested outcome and home permissions. Questions about the plan, budget or payment path can be taken to a plan manager, support coordinator or my NDIS contact without changing the requested cleaning. The written quote should describe the proposed service; it should not present a provider’s view as an NDIS approval.

Compare the quote with the assistance you requested. Check the task, area, quantity or frequency, access assumptions, exclusions and price basis. Ask about anything broader than the request, any ordinary household share included as support, or any change that lacks approval.

Ask for support and private costs separately

Where a quote contains both a portion for NDIS consideration and ordinary privately payable work, ask for separate line totals. Do not rely on an internal percentage that cannot be checked. The participant or nominee can then decide whether to remove, privately pay or seek advice about each portion without changing the other lines.

Check the payment pathway without changing the task

Self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed arrangements can require different records or provider checks. Confirm the current pathway with the appropriate decision-maker, including any my provider requirement for NDIA-managed funding. A payment-pathway change should alter the administrative evidence, not silently expand the household task itself.
