Need help with laundry at your Newcastle home? Tell Smurfettes whether you would like assistance sorting, washing, drying, folding, changing agreed linen or putting items away. We can discuss the work, your equipment and access arrangements before preparing a quote. Availability, suitability and NDIS funding still need to be confirmed.
Tell us about your laundry equipment
Let us know which washing machine, dryer, rack or clothesline would be used and who can authorise its use. Equipment belonging to another resident, landlord or other party should not be used without the appropriate permission.
Shared equipment and spaces
The participant or nominee can describe the requested help and the areas they control. In shared, rented or supported accommodation, another authorised person may need to agree to use of particular equipment or spaces. Please let us know before the work is quoted.
Machine instructions and care
Provide the machine’s accessible instructions or label information for settings and limits. Laundry assistance does not include overriding warnings or repairing equipment. If an instruction is missing or unclear, the affected task needs clarification before proceeding.
Let us know about any equipment faults
Tell us about a known fault or anything unusual, such as a door that will not close, a leak, exposed damage, burning smell or persistent error. The surrounding space also needs to be accessible. These observations do not replace a technical inspection, and faulty equipment should not be used.
Separate loads and fabric care
Loads need to suit the machine’s instructions and the items being washed. Care labels, colours, ownership and product restrictions may require separate washes. A working machine does not mean every item can safely go into the same load.
Detergent and other products
Tell us who will supply the agreed labelled detergent or other products and where they will be available. Products or doses should not be guessed or changed without approval. A clear product instruction is enough; unrelated health history is not needed for the quote.
Safe access to the laundry
Mention stairs, narrow passages, wet-floor risks, pets or private doors between the laundry area, drying location and the place where items should be returned. If part of the work cannot be reached safely, discuss an alternative before booking.
Where items will dry
Agree where damp items may be left. Drying should not block exits, heaters, mobility routes or shared facilities. If an outdoor line depends on the weather, discuss an approved alternative rather than assuming another space can be used.
If something changes during the visit
An equipment fault, leak, conflicting instruction, missing product or unsafe route means the affected task should stop. The appropriate contact should be informed. Troubleshooting or repair beyond the agreed household task is not included.
Getting help with equipment problems
A participant or nominee can clarify a preference, an authorised resident can approve shared equipment, and a landlord or qualified tradesperson may need to address a property or technical fault. The laundry task should wait until the relevant issue is resolved.
Keep repairs and property costs separate
Machine repair, plumbing, electrical work, replacement equipment, utility charges and landlord obligations are not automatically laundry assistance. Put any proposed separate cost outside the laundry quote with its own responsible person and payment decision.
Agree which laundry tasks are included
Your quote should name the agreed tasks: sorting, loading, washing, transferring, drying, folding, changing agreed linen or returning items to a named place. If a cycle will finish after the visit, agree how items will be left safely and who will complete or supervise the next step.
At the end of the visit
Agree how equipment controls, doors, products and the surrounding space should be left. Ask which tasks are finished and whether a wash or drying cycle is still running. This update describes the laundry work; it is not an equipment inspection or maintenance certificate.
Share access details securely
For an initial quote, describe the Newcastle location, equipment and relevant access limits. Keep keys, codes and alarm instructions private until the service, recipient, date and secure communication method are confirmed. Remove access permission when it is no longer needed.
Check NDIS funding separately
Laundry assistance may be considered only where it relates to the participant’s disability support needs and meets current plan and NDIS requirements. Direct budget or payment-route questions to a plan manager, support coordinator or my NDIS contact while the equipment decision remains separate. Before NDIA-managed funds are relied on, ask the authorised funding contact to verify the provider requirements that currently apply.
Review your laundry quote
Check the equipment, included tasks, amount of laundry, products, access, drying and return instructions, exclusions, price and cancellation terms. If a task depends on equipment that is unavailable or unsuitable, ask for the quote to be revised.
Tell us about changes before the next visit
Please tell us if a machine is replaced, repaired or moved, or if the drying location, access route or product changes. These changes may affect how the laundry can be done. Confirm any revised work and keep the updated quote with the earlier version.
