Agree the household tasks in writing

Describe the work by room and task. Depending on the home and accepted quote, you can ask about:

  • vacuuming or mopping suitable indoor floors
  • dusting safely reachable surfaces
  • cleaning agreed standard kitchen and bathroom surfaces
  • listed bedroom or living-area surfaces

Put the highest-priority rooms first and identify surfaces, belongings or areas that should be left alone. If other people share the home, name the participant’s rooms and any shared spaces requested. Tasks for another resident are not included in the participant’s request by assumption.

Choose who can give instructions

Name the participant or other authorised contact who can approve changes to tasks, time or price. Agree how instructions will be confirmed, such as by phone or email. If the authorised person cannot be reached, the cleaner should stay within the written scope. An instruction from a housemate or another person who opens the door does not automatically change the quote.

Ask for a revised written scope before a change to tasks, time or price takes effect.

Tell us about product preferences, manufacturer care instructions and any suitable equipment available at the home. Agree who will supply the products and equipment. Ask about any unconfirmed product or method before the visit.

Separate regular and occasional work

List the tasks wanted every visit, then identify work requested only sometimes. An occasional task still needs approval before it replaces or extends the regular list. Ask how it will be scheduled and priced before it is added.

Check NDIS funding and invoice arrangements

Smurfettes Service Pty Ltd is a registered NDIS provider for Household Tasks. Registration and a quote do not decide whether a particular support can be paid from a participant’s plan. The requested household assistance must relate to the participant’s disability support needs and fit their plan and current rules. Before booking, check the tasks and payment pathway with the participant or nominee and, where relevant, their plan manager, support coordinator or NDIS contact. Tell us how the plan is managed so invoice details can be prepared correctly.

Keep the service boundary clear

Laundry or linen, dishes, tidying and organising may be agreed when safe and suitable. Incidental handling needed for an agreed household task must be described and authorised in the written scope. These tasks are not automatic inclusions, and accepting a task does not confirm NDIS funding. Heavy build-up, appliance or cupboard interiors, internal glass and unfamiliar surfaces need separate assessment and written agreement. This household-cleaning scope excludes packing, relocation or moving heavy items, gardening, yard or exterior work, property maintenance or repairs, personal care, transport, meal preparation, supervision, plan management, support coordination, clinical cleaning, mould or biohazard remediation, and pest treatment.

Hazardous work and restoration are outside the agreed routine household-cleaning tasks. A cleaning enquiry does not include those services by implication.

Vacate, bond or end-of-tenancy work needs a separate scope and written quote. Confirm the funding position for that work with the participant or authorised funding contact before accepting the quote. Funding is not automatic, and no bond or property outcome is guaranteed.

Prepare an enquiry and protect your privacy

Include the exact address, priority tasks, preferred timing, practical access information and the contact authorised to make decisions. A diagnosis, complete NDIS plan or unrelated personal records are not needed for an initial enquiry. Keep alarm codes and key locations out of the first message; agree a secure access arrangement later if needed.
